FAQ

Questions enterprises ask first

Category, value, and data control for institutions, partners, and individuals. TumiTrust is Portable Trust Infrastructure in production.

What is TumiTrust?

TumiTrust is Portable Trust Infrastructure (PTI) in production - the reference implementation that helps people turn verified real-world activity into structured, portable trust proof they can reuse when they authorize a decision.

Organizations already generate trust through employment, lending, transactions, certifications, operations, and community participation. TumiTrust helps make that trust portable, verifiable, and easier to reuse.

What is Portable Trust Infrastructure (PTI)?

PTI is the category: infrastructure for moving trust signals responsibly across ecosystems - with purpose, consent, and explainability.

Identity, payments, and credit answer important questions. They do not answer how verified trust travels between institutions. That is what PTI is for. See Why PTI.

What problem does TumiTrust solve?

Trust is often trapped inside individual organizations. People and businesses re-prove the same facts for every decision.

TumiTrust lets trusted information be verified and exchanged in the right context - reducing repeated verification and improving decisions without replacing your core systems.

Does TumiTrust replace credit or risk systems?

No. Your identity, KYC, and risk stacks stay in place.

PTI complements them with context-scoped, explainable trust signals you can use alongside existing decision processes.

Who uses TumiTrust?

Institutions & verifiers - banks, insurers, employers, marketplaces, governments - run authorized trust lookups.

Partners (trust producers) - attest verified activity so people can carry that proof, through connectors they control.

Individuals - carry a portable Trust CV with consent controls.

What is a Trust CV?

A Trust CV is the portable profile of verified trust an individual (or business subject) can present - scoped by context and permissions - so proof can travel without starting from zero every time.

What are trust contexts?

Trust contexts are the life-area scopes on the PTI map (employment, lending, insurance, commerce, civic, and more - plus lenses such as risk & compliance).

Every signal and lookup is purpose-bound to a context so institutions see what is relevant to the decision, not a single opaque score.

Does TumiTrust replace our existing systems?

No. Your systems remain the source of truth. TumiTrust is the trust layer that makes verified information usable across authorized workflows - via API, dashboards, and reports.

Are organizations sharing their data with TumiTrust?

We are not designed around collecting or owning organizational data lakes. Organizations remain in control.

Signals move when there is an authorized purpose, permissions, and a clear integration path - not wholesale data surrender.

What about screening / sanctions checks?

Screening (sanctions, PEP, and related list checks) is a TumiTrust product alongside PTI - optional compliance capability you can run before or with a trust workflow.

It does not redefine TumiTrust as a background-check company. See Screening services.

How do we integrate?

API-first: authenticate, resolve directory, generate a context-aware trust lookup, then poll the report or receive a verified webhook.

Partners produce signals through connectors. Start in the Developers hub or the Trust platform API guide.

Why can’t we just build this ourselves?

Internal systems stay siloed. PTI creates interoperability between ecosystems - like a network layer for trusted information - with specification, governance, and a production reference implementation.

How do we get started?

Start with one workflow - employment verification, lending support, merchant onboarding, credentials, partner trust, or screening - then expand contexts on the same platform.
